Mitsubishi Heavy Duty Gear Shaping Machine ST40CNC This Machine is Unique! A bold statement about the Mitsubishi ST series gear shaper, but true. Never designed with hobbing machine components, this machine was only developed with the idea of optimizing the shaping process and its special demands. Take the time to look at the triple radial slide/guide system offering unsurpassed process dampening. Review the design of the moving cutter head axial slide and how the system permits the lowest of overhangs between the guide and the cutter. This combination provides the ultimate in machine rigidity, which has been proven time and again in testing and actual production. Cycle times have often been cut in half when compared to conventional shaping machines. Of course the ST series shaping machines with the largest version, ST40, are known for the programmable lead guide feature. With the ST's, gone are the days of replacing hydrostatic guides for generating different helix angles. Now a mere programmable feature, +/- 36 degrees are possible for internals and/or externals up to the maximum diameter of 400mm and stroke length of 135mm. Cluster gear shaping of different gears with varied helix angles, is now possible, in one clamping. One would think that a machine with such a list of attributes would be difficult to improve. Not a company to rest on its laurels, Mitsubishi has designed into the ST40, yet another world first feature for this type of machine; that of the QUICK RETURN STROKE. With this new feature, cycle times can be reduced as much as 30%, depending on the stroke length being used. It might be logical to think that such a special machine would require unique technology to make it function, but nothing could be further from the truth. Standard commercially available mechanical and electronic components are used, thus making the technology easy to support and maintain. |
